Parkinson’s Queensland works every day to support people living with Parkinson’s, their families, carers and healthcare professionals across Queensland. As a small but dedicated team, we deliver trusted information, education, community connection and advocacy while working closely with partners and researchers to improve outcomes for the Parkinson’s community.
Our work focuses on empowering individuals, strengthening communities and ensuring people affected by Parkinson’s have access to the support, services and knowledge they need. Now and into the future.
Information
We provide reliable, up-to-date Parkinson’s information to help people better understand the condition and navigate their journey with confidence. This includes clear resources about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, disease progression and daily living support.
Our information is designed to be accessible, practical and community-focused, helping individuals and families make informed decisions about care and wellbeing.
Education
Education is central to improving quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s.
We deliver education programs, webinars, workshops and community sessions that support people living with Parkinson’s, carers and healthcare professionals. Our education initiatives focus on self-management, wellbeing, movement, mental health and practical strategies to support everyday life.
Research Collaboration
Parkinson’s Queensland actively supports and promotes research that advances understanding, treatment and care for Parkinson’s disease.
We collaborate with universities, hospitals and research organisations by sharing participation opportunities and helping connect the community with ethical, evidence-based studies. Through these partnerships, we help ensure the voices and experiences of people living with Parkinson’s contribute to future breakthroughs.
Support Groups
Our support groups provide safe, welcoming spaces for people living with Parkinson’s and carers to connect, share experiences and support one another.
Groups operate across Queensland, both in-person and online, offering peer connection, guest speakers, education sessions and social interaction. Support groups help reduce isolation and strengthen community connections.
Advocacy
We advocate on behalf of the Parkinson’s community to raise awareness, improve access to services and promote better health outcomes.
This includes working with government, healthcare providers and community organisations to highlight the needs of people living with Parkinson’s, regional communities and carers. Advocacy ensures the Parkinson’s voice is heard and represented at local, state and national levels.
Support Services
Parkinson’s Queensland delivers practical support services designed to help individuals and families manage the challenges of Parkinson’s.
These services include community navigation, education support, wellbeing programs, and guidance on available supports. Our team works closely with individuals to help them access the right services at the right time.
Referrals
We provide referral pathways to help people living with Parkinson’s connect with appropriate services, healthcare professionals and community supports.
Through our referral process, healthcare providers, community organisations and individuals can access coordinated support that meets individual needs. Referrals help ensure timely access to care, education and community programs.
