Parkinson’s Queensland’s President, Prof George Mellick and Vice President, Karen O’Maley.
Parkinson’s Queensland welcomed the appointment of two of its Committee Members into new Executive roles, at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, 4th November 2018.
The appointment of both Karen O’Maley RN to Vice President and Daniel Sullivan to Treasurer demonstrates the dedication of your Management Committee.
Prof George Mellick will serve his third term as President.
Karen O’Maley brings her expertise as a Registered Nurse, specialising in the area of neurology, to her new role. She has firsthand experience into the diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders including Parkinson’s. Karen has valuable and privileged insight into how people living with Parkinson’s and their support people manage a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. She has provided ongoing, long term support of these people and their families, as well as other healthcare professionals. Her expertise will prove invaluable for providing direction to the organisation and support to the Management Committee.
Daniel Sullivan is an insurance lawyer in the area of personal injury claims; a role that requires him to liaise with doctors of various specialties including neurology. He has previously held postings as a researcher/drafter for Federal Court judges in Brisbane and the Lord Chancellor in the United Kingdom. Daniel’s knowledge and background in both corporations and government provides him the expertise to take his new role.
George, Karen and Daniel are joined by returning Committee Members Paulette Montaigne (Secretary), Peter ‘PJ’ Byrne, Ruth Coleman, Prof Peter Silburn AM, and Dr Lesley van Schoubroeck.
